Employment Status:  Part-Time (18 hours per week)

FLSA Status:  Non-Exempt/Hourly

Work Schedule: Monday - Wednesday 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. (1 hour lunch) Thursday 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.

Reports to: Pastor/Office Manager

Job Summary:   


Prince of Peace Catholic Church is seeking a part-time groundskeeper to fulfill the mission of our parish by providing a variety of services to maintain the physical grounds such as grounds maintenance, mechanical repair, general maintenance, and custodial services. 


Essential Functions:

  • Supports and adheres to the policies and procedures of Prince of Peace Catholic Church and Archdiocese of San Antonio.
  • Demonstrates professionalism in conduct, demeanor, and work habits
  • Maintains a work schedule that maximizes availability to the parish.
  • Maintains good relationships and works cooperatively with many people, such as clergy, staff, and parish community. 
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding parish matters.
  • Provides all ground maintenance services including but not limited to cutting grass, trimming trees and/or bushes, edging at sidewalks and/or other borders, weed control, and blowing of landscape debris.
  • Performs minor ground equipment repair and preventative maintenance.
  • Maintains/monitors irrigation systems including sprinkler timers.
  • Provides janitorial/custodial support services to staff including but not limited to internal and external buildings and grounds.
  • Assists with set-up and cleaning of facilities for evening and weekend activities/events as directed by the Pastor or Office Manager.
  • Performs other related tasks as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of grounds equipment operation
  • Knowledge of general janitorial skills and product application
  • Skill in minor repair of equipment
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others in the parish community
  • Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth
  • Ability to organize and coordinate work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to exercise considerable caution in working with machinery and equipment
  • Ability to provide own transportation for job-related responsibilities
  • Ability to be on-call for emergency needs
  • Ability to maintain clear Criminal Background Check and driver’s license search


Working Conditions:

  • Evening and/or weekend hours as needed
  • Exposure to climate changes, inclement weather/temperatures, fumes


Mental/Physical Demands:

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Ability to maintain composure and avoid inappropriate displays of emotion
  • Required to sit, stand, bend, stoop, reach, grab, pull, hear, see, and speak on a daily basis
  • Required to perform repetitive physical tasks

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or GED
  • Experience: Experience is maintaining grounds, parking lots, etc. required
