Summary:


This position will be planning and preparing meals, maintenance of kitchen facilities and equipment and for ensuring compliance with all USDA and health department requirements. 

 
Position Responsibilities:

  • Cook for Pastor 3-5 days a week.
  • Candidate must be willing and able to prepare meals from various cultures, as needed.  Pastor will help train.
  • Must be able to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Responsible for ensuring the maintenance and cleaning of all kitchen facilities, equipment and tools
  • Responsible for monitoring and ensuring that all health department and USDA requirements and guidelines are followed.
  • Responsible for monitoring and ensuring that all work conditions and procedures are safe.
  • Must be sensitive to the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
  • Adhering to safety training and protocols on a daily basis and taking precautionary measure to ensure the safety and well-being of self, others.
  • Responsible for protecting the confidentiality of any information or material obtained in the service with the organization to include but not limited to client names and information, services rendered to clients, donors names and gifts, internal and external investigations or results of any investigations, and financial information.
  • Adherence to the Code of Conduct and the Faith and Moral Policy is mandatory.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Sufficient education and literacy needed to identify and read product labels and to communicate with pastor(s) or church pesonnel about job-related needs.
  • Minimum 5-10 years cooking experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Minimum Knowledge and Skills:

  • Working knowledge of cleaning chemicals/supplies and equipment use.
  • Thorough understanding of safety hazards and proper use of various cleaning and sanitizing solutions.
  • Ability to remain discreet and respect the privacy of residents, tenants, and/or guests.
  • Good interpersonal skills with polite and courteous demeanor toward staff and visitors to the property.
  • Experience with computer software and Microsoft Office Applications.
  • A solid grasp of cleaning and organizing.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Cooking with at least 3 years of line cooking experience.

License and Credentials

  • Reliable transportation
  • Valid and current driver license
  • Valid and current vehicle insurance  
  • Must speak English fluently
  • Spanish speaking optional
