The Assistant Rental & Used Manager’s primary responsibility is in supporting Rental Fleet ROI maximization through execution of best practices in fleet maintenance. The position’s duties include leading the Rental Fleet Maintenance Supervisors, providing support to the Rental & Used Asset Manager with regard to equipment market valuations, fleet pricing, and continual improvement in maintenance & repair practices.


Essential Functions:


• Hires, develops, evaluates, and influences effective and consistent productivity and teamwork to ensure the delivery of Legendary Customer Service (LCS)


• Models, promotes, reinforces, and rewards the consistent use of HOLT’s Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools, models, and processes to ensure alignment with our Vision, Values, and Mission


• Control Rental Fleet and Used Inventory Maintenance & Repair Cost to maximize rental operations and sales profitability


• Train and develop Fleet Maintenance Supervisors to approve and review rental fleet work orders for accuracy in amounts billed and accounts billed


• Define scope of work for Service Department repair-after-rent work orders, as well as establish expectations for fleet condition standards


• Collaborate with Rental Operations Managers to optimize Lane Strategy for Rental Fleet Turnaround


• Assist Rental & Used Asset Manager as needed in the disposition of aged rental assets, participates in monthly demand planning for the Heavy Rental Fleet and annual budget preparation


• Drives hard & soft skill-based improvements for Rental Fleet Technicians


• Administer purchase order process for department related expenditures


• Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards


• Performs other duties as assigned       


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


• Proficiency in MS Office, with an emphasis in Excel and Outlook and the use of computer applications


• Coaching/mentoring experience with Service Technician and other maintenance/repair related personnel   


• Excellent in persuading & influencing skills


• Strong technical aptitude and understanding of heavy machinery operations and equipment repairs


• Comprehensive understanding of Rental fleet ROI, fleet maintenance/ income ratio, and rental fleet time utilization


• Exceptional organizational, time management, and multi-tasking skills


• Driven and results oriented; business development and KPIs to meet department targets 


• Knowledge of safe work policies, procedures, and practices


• Critical thinking skills to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems 


• Judgment and decision making skills to consider the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one


• Ability to positively motivate, manage, and develop employees


• Ability to work with all levels of personnel within the organization and customer operations 


Education and Experience:


• Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Administration, or Construction Management preferred


• Minimum 5+ years in a supervisory role required; minimum of 3+ years of supervisory experience in a construction or heavy equipment industry environment


• Minimum of 2+ years of experience in construction or heavy equipment industry required


Supervisory Responsibilities:


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; coaching and development; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.


Travel:


• Travel up to 20%, and overnight travel may be required up to, but not limited to 


Physical Requirements:


• This position involves extended periods in a stationary position; additionally, occasional movement inside the office to access office machinery, file cabinets, etc. 


• This role frequently communicates with others, must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations


• This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines


• Must be able to move objects, and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue


• Frequently moves materials or equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. 


• Constant movement and use of limbs; this position requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina


• Ascend/descend with gradual or continuous progress by oneself, using both hands and feet and climb up and down ladder


• Be able to safely maneuver and work underneath equipment


• Routinely reacts to visual, auditory, and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work


• Safety training required; PPE required outside of office/parking lot area


Work Environment:


• Occasionally works outdoors and may be exposed to weather extremes conditions that include inclement weather, heat, cold, and humidity


• Noise level may be loud at times


• Exposure to small quantities of chemicals, steam, high-pressure water, and high speed rotating equipment


• On occasion time spent in confined spaces and high places


• This job is generally performed in a professional office environment


• Frequently works at fast pace with unscheduled interruptions
